THE BEGINNING

by Jan Michael Belena

Talento Manay 2014 was a talent competition held in the Municipality of Manay which formally started last September 8, 2014 from a month long brainstorming of a new talent competition by Hon. Jon Marco M. Dayanghirang, Municipal Mayor of Manay. It started with a series of Auditions held on six (6) barangays of the municipality namely; San Ignacio (Sept 8, 2014), Del Pilar (Sept. 9, 2014), Capasnan (Sept. 10, 2014), Guza (Sept. 11, 2014), San Isidro (Sept. 13, 2014) and Central (Sept. 22, 2014). The six barangays were strategically selected by the Talento Manay staffs composed mainly of that of MPDC. This kind of selection process was a first time to be implemented and so that the people of the upland barangays would somehow more felt their participation to the upcoming town celebration (117th Araw ng Manay).

This contest also opened for the first time a voting scheme thru facebook of the twenty (20) finalist who wore their glam shots in which the staffs also made the TALENTO MANAY Facebook page. The Facebook page skyrocketed its supporters after it was made last August 2014 into thousand of likers. In fact, the facebook awardee (People’s Choice Awardee) Krizley TanudTanud rallied almost a thousand votes before its closing days before the finals night. A friendly competition to all finalist in which the main purpose was to spread not only for the votes but also for those Manayans who were abroad of working outside the municipal proper. Until the day of this write-up the Facebook Page still had additional Likes and will be hopeful for another set of Likes if it will have another season.
